How this site works

We write up small, clever things that make a day easier. Someone has to read the reviews and Reddit threads, and it may as well not be you.

Digby the mole leans so close to an old computer monitor full of forum posts that his nose is pressed against the screen and his round glasses almost touch the glass. A mug of tea and a notepad sit beside him on the desk.

For each one, that means finding out what owning it is actually like and writing it down with the annoying parts left in.

Digby is a mole with poor eyesight and excellent taste. He's also a drawing, and we're not going to pretend otherwise.

How an article gets written

Research first. Reddit threads, YouTube teardowns, forum posts, the occasional blog by somebody who's had the thing for three years and has opinions about the hinge.

Then we write it up from those notes. Every claim gets checked against where it came from, and the complaints stay in even when they make the thing look worse. Nothing goes up until that's done, and it's where most of the work happens.

Most of the time we haven't owned the thing ourselves, so we go by what the people who have say, and write down what keeps coming up. When we have used something, the article says so.

Our guidelines

  • We never say we've tested something we've only read about.
  • We link to the threads and videos our claims came from, so you can check them yourself.
  • We don't take paid placements, so nobody can buy their way into an article.
